About

Megan Gonyo is the creator behind Palais. She's an artist whose modern abstract work adds luxury, inspiration, and interesting conversations to residential and commercial spaces in Minneapolis, Chicago, St. Louis, San Francisco, and New York City.

Palais is an art brand that takes a stance against bad art by making art that is inspiring, unique, and everything but mainstream, and setting an example for other artists to do the same.

Artists sometimes have no choice but to make art for people that is not their true style, or take projects that go against their values, just to make a living and barely scrape by. I am here to help the collective art community set clearer boundaries on saying no, and still get paid for the work that they want to do. There's a lot of good design out there, but what we see the most often is big box retail catalog picture perfect; it's the cookie cutter house with no character, that overpowers and therefore, defines what design should be, simply because of its mass reach. Top of mind advertising sweeps up the majority of buyers because it's easier than looking for something else. So, artists lose - they get discouraged, think they are doing something wrong, change their style to be more like the retail art that sells, or give up entirely.

But the world needs art. And why would you want your living room to look the same as everyone else's? So support living artists, and join me on a mission to take a stance against bad art.

Have some personality, for fuck's sake.

With love,

Megan
